UN vote deepens Israel’s isolation over Palestinian statehood push

The divide between Israel and much of the international community is deepening, following a sweeping vote at the United Nations General Assembly. An overwhelming 142 countries backed a resolution supporting a path toward a two-state solution with the Palestinians. Notably absent from the vote were Israel and the United States, both of which boycotted the session. The vote sets the stage for a pivotal upcoming summit, where global leaders are expected to take further steps toward recognizing a Palestinian state.
