Structure fire closes Hwy 5 in Hamilton between Ofield Road North and Sydenham Road

Highway 5 in Hamilton is currently closed between Ofield Road North and Sydenham Road due to a structure fire.

The OPP are asking drivers to avoid the area and plan alternate routes.

A resident in the area told CHCH News that a lightning strike caused the fire, though police have not confirmed this.

The blaze started just after 7 a.m. during an intense thunderstorm.

Police say that any injuries are not known at this time.
