OPP and Six Nations police have seized over 25 metric tonnes of contraband tobacco and 15 firearms following an investigation into a non-Indigenous criminal network that was operating on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory.

The joint investigation – dubbed Project PANDA – began in February. Officials say the investigation involved nine different branches of the OPP and Six Nations police.

On May 7, officers executed three search warrants in Ancaster, Brantford, and Six Nations territory. During the search, police seized:

  • 25 tonnes of contraband tobacco (fine cut and cigarettes)
  • More than 1,360 lbs of illegal cannabis and related products, valued at $3 million
  • 15 firearms
  • Multiple skids of tobacco packaging material

Police told CHCH News that no arrests have been made, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
