Senior woman found dead in Oakville home, cause of death unknown

A seventy-three-year old woman was found dead at a home in Oakville this afternoon in which she was babysitting.
CHCH has limited details from Halton police, but a freelance journalist learned from emergency personnel on scene that the woman was attacked by two large dogs in the basement of the residence on St. Augustine Drive.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the dogs were moved to the backyard and animal control was contacted.
Halton police tell CHCH news that the cause of death has not yet been determined, but they now believe the dogs are not responsible and her death is not considered suspicious.
Paramedics say the woman was babysitting, and didn’t live in the home.
This is a developing story — more to come. An earlier version of the story was first published on May 24, 2025.
