Senate lawmakers advance bill to limit Trump’s military power in Venezuela

Lawmakers in Washington have begun debating how far U.S. President Donald Trump can go with Venezuela without congressional approval.

Trump told the New York Times “only time will tell” how long the administration will demand direct oversight of the nation.

Senate lawmakers have now advanced a resolution to limit future U.S. military force in Venezuela without congressional approval.

Five senate Republicans voted with the Democrats to allow a future vote on limiting the president’s powers.
