Questions about race car business

Dozens of people say they’ve been scammed by a luxury car business that holds events at the Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga. In the past months, the “Racing Box” company has postponed several events at the track, and then cut off communication with ticket holders. Elise Copps has the story.

Ben McAlister got a voucher for “Racing Box” as a Christmas gift.

He booked an appointment to drive a Ferarri at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga.

Two days before the event, he got an email which said:

“The event had been postponed due to the fact that the cars were stuck at the border.”

He tried to rebook for a later date.

“I’ve called multiple times. I’ve left multiple messages. I’ve sent numerous emails to their customer service. I even went as far as to send them an email from somebody else asking to do new business to see if that would ellicit a response and that did not.”

He’s not the only one.

Furious customers have taken to Twitter venting their frustration.

Racing Box sells luxury driving experiences for hundreds of dollars. Events are held in Cayuga, Quebec and across the U.S.

But in the past year, complaints have piled up.

Some buyers even showed up to the track for their booking, only to find it empty.

The Better Business Bureau gave the company an “F” rating.

Despite dozens of angry customers, Racing Box continues to sell online, and through multiple group buying websites.

“The way they’re doing it doesn’t seem to be garnering a lot of attention. I think they’ve probably ripped off thousands if not tens of thousands of people across Canada and the U.S. and I think that’s disgusting. And I think something’s got to be done about it. And I’m the kind of guy that’s not going to let go.”

McAlister says he’s been in contact with the RCMP who told him at least three complaints, based out of Quebec, had already been filed against the company. We tried to contact “Racing Box” and like many customers, did not hear back. McAlister also reached the Toronto Motorsports Park. They’re not affiliated with the company, but provide a venue for events. They told him “Racing Box” has an event scheduled for this upcoming weeke
