CHCH News anchor Matt Ingram spoke with former Queen’s Park correspondent Keith Leslie on topics Premier Doug Ford touched upon at a Wednesday press conference.

Leslie said that he agreed with Ford’s approach to “prepare for anything” in regards to President Donald Trump and U.S. tariffs.

He said that Ford is currently supporting Prime Minister Mark Carney’s approach, and saying publicly “things Carney can’t say right now” as Canada negotiates a deal with the U.S.

Ford spoke at Thornhill Wednesday morning and unveiled his plan to build a three-layer tunnel under Highway 401, which experts estimate could cost over $130 billion.

When asked by Ingram on if the Highway 401 tunnel project may actually move forward, Leslie said that a project that only expects to shave a few minutes off of a commute may not be worth the high cost.
