Police on scene in Burlington after body found floating in water

Halton police are on scene in Burlington after a body was discovered in Lake Ontario.

According to officials, police received reports around 4 p.m. indicating there was a person floating in the water off of the Waterfront Pier.

The marine unit, fire crews, and police all dispatched to the scene, where they recovered the body of a man.

They confirmed he was deceased.

Police have not released any details about the man’s age.

Halton officials say initial findings suggest it may have been a boating accident, but that has yet to be confirmed.

There are no other injuries being reported at this time, and police say they are unaware if there are any damaged boats in the area.

Halton police say the death is not being looked at as suspicious at this time.
