A search warrant in Hamilton and another in the Niagara region Wednesday have police tight-lipped, with more information expected to be released in the following days.

Hamilton police are investigating after they say a search warrant was executed in the area of King St. East and Sanford Ave. North Wednesday, at the Budget Inn 2000 hotel.

Officers did not provide any more details. On the scene a tow truck was seen removing a grey SUV from the parking lot of the hotel.

There was also a forensics van and officers reportedly seen climbing a ladder onto the inn’s red awning.

One officer was taking photos of the top of the awning, and then bagged an item for evidence.

People who live in the area, but did not want to appear on camera, described seeing police in the area early Wednesday morning.

Some said it was common for police officers in their vehicles to be in the area at night, up until the early hours of the morning.

Meanwhile, Niagara police executed a search warrant in the area of Brookside and Windsong Drives in Niagara Falls.

There, officers found a drug lab and made arrests. The lab was being dismantled with help from Ontario Provincial Police.

Hamilton police say they should have information on the investigation around the Budget Inn area in the coming days, while Niagara police say they will provide more details on the drug lab bust in the coming days as well.
