Overnight fire at St Joe’s mental health facility

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is looking into a suspicious overnight fire at a hospital on Hamilton mountain.

The alarms sounded just after midnight at St Joseph’s Healthcare at the corner of West 5th and Fennell. A fire in a patient’s room caused about $20,000 in damage.

Smoke spread through that area of the hospital, forcing other patients to relocate to another part of the building. One patient was treated by paramedics.
