Ontario set to merge regional conservation authorities

The Ministry of Environment is proposing to amalgamate Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into seven.

The consolidation could see Hamilton join with Niagara, Halton and Peel Region — bringing 28 municipalities under one regional body.

No decision will be made until the provincial government completes public consultations until Dec. 22.
