Ontario government expected to announce multi-million dollar investment into shipbuilding

The Ontario government is expected to announce a multi-million dollar investment into supporting the shipbuilding industry today.

CHCH News has learned that the province will spend $215 million over the next ten years to advance the industry – fulfilling a promise outlined in this year’s provincial budget.

It is expected to start with a new grant program to support competitiveness and shipbuilding business growth. This will be a significant investment for Ontario Shipyards, which has locations in Hamilton, St. Catharines and Thunder Bay.

The details will be announced later this morning.
