Authorities pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The body has not yet been removed from the vehicle.
Toronto bound lanes on the QEW near Christie Street have been closed for most of the day.
OPP Const. Taylor Konkle tells CHCH News the highway remains closed, although they are hoping to reopen the Toronto bound portion of the highway around 4 p.m.
“Right now, due to the impact and collision, some of the metal of the truck was twisted, causing us an issue of getting the tractor trailer out of the ditch,” said Const. Konkle.
Officials say the cause of the crash is still undetermined.
They add that the commercial tanker was carrying malt and water, and that there is no concern for the environment.
