Oakville boat blast not criminal
Video updated Halton Regional Police have wrapped up their investigation after a boat exploded in Oakville harbour over the weekend.
The 35-foot boat blew up at the Oakville Power Boat Club’s fuelling station and sank on Saturday.
Police say there is no criminal intent, though the cause of the blast has yet to be determined. They speculate clean-up crews on site may be bringing in a crane to pull out the rest of the boat from the water, at which point the Ontario Fire Marshal can investigate the cause.
The boat’s owner, William Juranic, 45, remains in hospital, along with the two other people who were onboard before the explosion.
