No one injured after suspicious fire destroys Hamilton east mountain salon

Hamilton fire officials are investigating after a fire broke out early Sunday morning at a Hamilton east mountain strip mall, which destroyed a salon.
The Hamilton Fire Department received a report just before 3 a.m., of a fire at a commercial strip mall at 1447 Upper Ottawa St. between Stone Church Road East and Unsworth Drive.
Firefighters say they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the Impression Nails Hair and Spa salon in the plaza.
They say the fire grew so large that the flames extended through the wall and into the ceiling of the neighbouring M&M Discount Liquidation business.
More crews from across the city were brought in after the alarm was upgraded to a multiple alarm due to the size of the fire and the exposure to the adjoining units.

Hamilton Fire Chief David Cunliffe says the fire had consumed the salon, and caused extensive damages to the discount store.
He also said the neighbouring Red Swan Pizza suffered smoke and water damage, and the Heavy Cloud Vape Shop next door took smoke damage.
No one was reported injured.
The estimated cost in damages is over $1 million.
The fire is considered suspicious, and The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified.
