Niagara police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man involved in a break-and-enter at a Welland church.

On March 11, officers responded to St. Kevin’s Catholic Church located on Niagara Street regarding a break-and-enter.

Investigators say two men broke into a facility that houses the church’s commercial air conditioning units.

The men stripped portions of the air conditioning units, causing an estimated $20,000 in damages, before selling the parts at a recycling facility.

So far, one of the two men has been arrested and identified as 34-year-old Jacob Golden of Welland.

Golden was charged with the following offences:

  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence
  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Authorities describe the second man involved as being white, five-foot-eight to five-foot-ten tall, and has a medium build.

He was last seen wearing a grey hooded jacket, grey hooded sweatshirt, grey jeans and grey running shoes.

Anyone with relevant information regarding this investigation is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009702.
