Niagara Regional police have arrested a man wanted for robbing a CIBC bank on October 29 in St. Catharines.

Police said one man entered the bank located in the Ridley Heights Plaza at 100 Fourth Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. and waited in line. When he reached the teller window, he passed a note to the worker demanding money.

After receiving information from members of the public that helped identify the suspect,  officers tracked 40-year-old Jesse McVittie to an Ontario Street motel.

The Emergency Tasks Unit and a team of Crisis Negotiators assisted in securing an area of the hotel for public and police safety and McVitte was arrested without incident.

Niagara police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
