Newly renovated TD Coliseum set to open Friday

The sign is up, the scaffolding is down, and TD Coliseum is ready to welcome fans this Friday.

A performance by Earth, Wind and Fire marked the soft launch of the new venue Tuesday night.

This has been a $300-million project in the making for the last 18 months. The 18,000-seat arena is being promoted as the state-of-the-art music, sports, and live entertainment destination in southwestern Ontario, and it’s right in the heart of downtown Hamilton.

Plenty of Hamiltonians are familiar with this building, but now the interior has been completely redone.

Renderings provided by TD Coliseum show the open-concept space guests will encounter when they arrive. There’s a marketplace and TD Lounge on the first floor, and the bowl with floor space and wrap-around seating.

The food is another part of the fan experience. The menu features options by Canadian chef Matty Matheson, items curated by the Oak View Group hospitality team, and signature drinks like the black bird berry smash and the charcuterie caesar.

The venue has already attracted some big names to the stage. Paul McCartney will be the debut performance, but we can also expect to see Andrea Boccelli and the Jonas Brothers.
