Two neighbours helped rescue a family of four in an early morning house fire in Georgetown that destroyed a home and sent the parents and children to hospital.
The destructive blaze broke out around 4:30 a.m. at 103 Arborglen Drive.
Neighbours Ammad Chaudhary and Patrick Macra heard the family screaming and rushed to help.
Chaudhary says that they were able to use a piece of plywood to get the children down from the roof and managed to find a ladder from another neighbour to help rescue the parents. In the rush the mother lost her balance, fell and injured her head but Chaudhary says she seemed “okay.”
“We carried them out, they were all barefoot…there was glass all over the floor,” says Chaudhary.
Chaudhary and other neighbours heard an explosion and garage doors were blown across the street. The garage was fully involved in the fire and spread to the house and a neighbouring home. An electric vehicle was said to be inside the garage.

Halton Hills fire crews used defensive and aerial operations to fight the flames and the Milton Fire Department was called in for additional assistance.
The family was taken to hospital with unknown injuries and the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified.
CHCH News has reached out to Halton Hills fire department and Halton police for more information.
