Canada’s Indigenous Affairs Minister Mandy Gull Masty met with members of a First Nation Saturday, who were evacuated to Niagara Falls in January.

Masty posted photos on social media of a weekend meeting held with members of Kashechewan First Nation.

Her post said, “their strength and resilience are an inspiration. We will continue supporting them for as long as it takes, and working with the community and partners at every level of government to get them home safely.”

Around 1,000 members of the Kashechewan First Nation in northern Ontario have been living in hotels in Niagara Falls.

They were flown there two months ago, after the community’s water treatment system broke, causing parasitic infections and flooding.
