Modern spin on “Jack & the Beanstalk”

It’s a modern day twist on a classic fairy tale, the pantomime version of “Jack and the Beanstalk,” is now playing in Burlington.

There are no rules when it comes to pantomime, and one of our own CHCH personalities hit the stage.

The fairy tale is a classic, but this presentation of Jack and the Beanstalk is far from it.

A pantomime is a mix of musical theatre, with a some comedy, and lots of audience participation.

“It’s the noisiest form of theatre you can get. Very loud and very rambunctious. We bring kids up on stage, it’s very interactive,” says writer Rikki Wright.

They create the rules, like inviting our own Annette Hamm to take part.

Jack and the Beanstalk runs until Monday at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre.
