Man faces 48 firearm-related charges: Brantford Police

An Ohsweken man is facing dozens of weapons and theft charges.

Brantford Police say they received a 911 call on the afternoon of Sept. 4 to report a man believed to be in possession of a firearm.

Officers discovered the vehicle he was in was reported stolen in Halton.

The vehicle was spotted in a parking lot at Brant Ave and Church St. around 6 p.m. that day.

Police say the driver took off when officers tried to conduct a traffic stop. He hit a fence and staircase causing serious property damage.

Officers did not follow because of public safety concerns.

The vehicle was found abandoned in the parking lot of an apartment building on Tollgate Rd.

Officers recovered seven firearms, which had been reported stolen from a prior break and enter in Wellington County.

Lorne Melvin General, 34, was arrested by members of the Six Nations Police on Sunday.

He’s facing 48 firearm-related charges as well as charged for possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of motor vehicle and operation while prohibited.
