TORONTO — Toronto police say a 28-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in the city’s downtown area overnight.
Police say they received reports of a crash at around 12:30 a.m. in the area of Sherbourne and Shuter Streets.
They say a 43-year-old man driving a Ford Fusion was headed south on Sherbourne Street when he struck the man, who was laying on the road.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures but the pedestrian, whom police have not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they have not determined why the man was laying on the street, and that an investigation is underway.
Police say the driver remained at the scene and they are asking anyone with dash camera footage to share it with them.
