MADD Canada to unveil roadside memorial for woman killed by impaired husband

MADD Canada will host a ceremony in Niagara-on-the-Lake to unveil a roadside memorial sign to honour a woman who was killed by her impaired husband in July 2022.
Ashley Marie Vaillancourt, 34, was killed on July 9 on York Road after being trapped in their car that flipped on its roof.
Vaillancourt’s husband was behind the wheel and was later convicted of impaired driving. The couple had been on their way home from a wedding.
The memorial will be installed at 1870 York Road at the scene of the fatality.
MADD Canada says roadside memorial signs are “a powerful way to honour victims and to remind motorists about the tragic and lasting consequences of impaired driving.”
Vaillancourt’s mother, sisters, brother and a family friend will be at Wednesday’s unveiling.
