Iran defies Trump, vows swift trial amid rising death toll

Iran’s judiciary chief has signaled that swift trials and executions are ahead for those detained in nationwide protests, despite warnings from U.S. President Donald Trump. The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency reports that at least 2,586 people have been killed in the crackdown. Trump has warned of possible military action over the killings. On Wednesday, Iran held a mass funeral for around 100 security force members killed during the demonstrations.
