Iran cuts off internet as anti-government protests escalate

The escalation of protests in Iran may be reaching a boiling point. On Friday, the Iranian regime is signaling a harsher crackdown on demonstrators, adding that punishments will be “decisive” and “without leniency”.

Tensions are also building between U.S. President Donald Trump and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who says Trump should stay out of the country’s business.

It’s not just Trump who turned up the pressure against the supreme leader. European leaders are also urging Iran to allow its citizens to demonstrate without fear of punishment.
