Inflatable castles hurt more kids than park rides
A new study from Ryerson University has found that more children are injured on inflatables like bouncy castles than on amusement park rides.
A 2010 report from the U.S. National Safety Council says the chance of being injured on a ride is four in a million, but inflatables accounted for 42 per cent of amusement injuries in all age groups. Half of the injuries were in children under 15 years old.
The study also found that 20 per cent of injuries were from roller coasters, carousels and bumper cars. Researchers recommend using caution when letting your kids go on rides, and making sure inflatables are licenced and not overloaded.
