Humane Society of Greater Niagara calls for support as 50/50 raffle far from $165K goal

The Humane Society of Greater Niagara (HSGN) is urging the community to step up as its 50/50 raffle jackpot lags behind expectations, with just over $29,000 in the pot and less than a month until the draw deadline.
The animal shelter says their goal is to reach a $165,000 jackpot for its “Fetch a Fortune 50/50 Raffle.”
Half of all ticket sales go toward programs that provide shelter, veterinary care and rescue services for vulnerable animals across the Niagara region. The other half goes to the lucky winner.
“In other communities similar to ours, 50/50 raffles have reached significantly higher jackpots,” HSGN Executive Director Cindy Dunne wrote in a press release.
“We understand these are challenging times for many families, but even one ticket can make a difference for the animals in our care and for your chance to win.”
In addition to purchasing a raffle ticket, Dunne says the community can help by encouraging other people to buy a ticket and sharing the raffle link on social media to spread the word.
Anyone who would like to buy a raffle ticket can do so online or in person.
Tickets are available until Sept. 13 at midnight. The winner will be announced on Sept. 15.
“This is a win-win for the community,” Dunne wrote.
“You could walk away with 50 per cent of [the] jackpot, and you’ll know your ticket helped an animal get the care, safety, and second chance they deserve.”
