Hamilton heat wave prompts cooling stations to open across the city

Hamilton’s Medical Officer of Health issued a heat warning, prompting the city to activate cooling sites amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Dale Manucdoc has the details

The warning went up at 10:44 a.m. on Monday as high daytime temperatures nearing 30 degrees are expected in the afternoon and humidity is expected to reach the mid-thirties. While temperatures and forecast are expected to slightly higher on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Environment Canada reminds everyone that extreme heat effects everyone. Drink plenty of water, stay in a cool place, and never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
