Hamilton schools unite for Mental Health Week awareness

Several schools across Hamilton are participating in Mental Health Week with a creative new initiative called “Let’s Quack About Mental Health.”
It’s an idea that began at Bernie Custis Secondary School in 2022 that uses ducks as a playful and approachable metaphor to spark conversation.
It was then introduced at the Student Voice Summit in 2024 where it gained more momentum.
The initiative will launch in 27 schools across the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board this week.
Mental Health Week runs from May 5 to 11, and the theme this year is about unmasking mental health and breaking down the stigma.
