Man in his 50s fatally shot outside Burlington Mandarin Restaurant

Halton police are investigating a fatal shooting in a Burlington parking lot Tuesday night that left one man dead.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a man who had been shot in the parking lot of the Mandarin restaurant on Fairview Street.
He was brought to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“Unfortunately an adult male was shot and pronounced deceased after travelling to hospital,” said Const. Jeff Dillon with Halton Police. “We do believe he was dining at the Mandarin Restaurant at the time.”
Officers say that since the shooting happened before the restaurant closed, diners and employees were still inside the restaurant when shots broke out in the parking lot.
“Of course it’s going to be traumatic for everyone that was there,” said Dillon. “It’s not something that you are going to expect when you are dining at a restaurant, and to have something like that occur – which obviously adds to the chaos of the scene.”
The back window of a black pick up truck was smashed in the shooting. Officers have removed the vehicle from the scene to examine further.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and say there’s no risk to public safety.
“It does seem like this gentleman was the target of the shooter, no one else has been injured and there are no other reported injuries,” said Dillon.
A freelancer told CHCH News that the shooter fled in a black Mercedes.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Police do not have a suspect description but have identified a vehicle of interest as a grey, newer model Honda Civic with dark tinted windows and black alloy rims.

Officers say this is Halton’s second homicide of the year.
Anyone with dash cam or surveillance footage of the area between 4 and 10 p.m. is asked to contact police.
