Halton police charge Guelph officer following citizen assault

Halton police have laid charges against an on-duty Guelph officer following an interaction with a citizen earlier this year.

On Jan. 13, the Guelph Police Service received a complaint about an interaction between a citizen and an on-duty Guelph police officer.

Halton authorities conducted an investigation and subsequently charged a 13-year member of the Guelph Police Service with assault.

The officer has been reassigned to administrative duties.

The Guelph Police Service’s Professional Standards will also be conducting an investigation.
