Halton commercial road safety blitz results in issue of 160 tickets

A three-day road safety blitz in the Halton region resulted in the seizure of six licence plates and the issue of 160 provincial tickets.
Inspections were conducted by Halton police, the OPP and the Ministry of Transportation (MOT) in the Burlington, Oakville and Milton area.
There were 82 commercial motor vehicle (CMV) inspections with 36 placed out of service, two written warnings and two court summonses issued.
“We will continue these similar efforts to keep our roads as safe as possible,” said Staff Sergeant Ryan Smith of the Traffic Services Unit.
The Halton police CMV Team will participate in the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliances North America-wide ‘Brake Safety Week’ from Aug. 24 to Aug. 30 where CMV inspectors will be inspecting trucks and focusing on brake systems and components.
