CHCH News anchor Matt Ingram spoke with Canada’s former ambassador to Israel and current senior fellow with the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto Jon Allen about the ongoing war in Gaza.

This is following Foreign Affairs Minister and Oakville MP Anita Anand, along with 24 of her counterparts abroad, saying the war in the Gaza Strip must end now.

“We condemn the drip feeding of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking to meet their most basic needs of water and food,” the letter from the group says.

“It is horrifying that over 800 Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid.”

The statement is signed by foreign ministers from Australia, Japan, across Europe and the UK, but not by the U.S. or other major powers like China or Russia.

Gaza City was hit once again on Monday by Israeli strikes while simultaneously pushing into parts of Deir Al-Balah for the first time.

This is a significant development because it’s an area where Israel’s military believe some of the remaining Israeli hostages taken by Hamas during the October 7 attacks are being kept.

Gazans have been ordered to leave the area in a move the United Nations has called another devastating blow to people in Gaza.
