Fire pit sold at Giant Tiger stores recalled

A nationwide recall notice has been issued for the Nordic Flame Tabletop Fire Pit sold at Giant Tiger stores.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the product and return it to Giant Tiger for a refund.

The pit requires users to pour ethanol into the burner then ignite the pooled fuel in the same spot.

The recalled products do not meet the labelling requirements under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.

The lack of appropriate labelling and hazard information could contribute to a flame jetting incident or unintentional exposure to the product which can lead to serious illness, injury or death.

The company says it has received no reports of incidents or injury in Canada as of Oct. 7.
