TORONTO — Toronto police say two people are facing aggravated assault charges after an incident in a downtown subway station that saw a TTC employee and patron allegedly stab each other.

Police say officers were first called to Dundas Station on Nov. 26 just after 1 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.

Police say two parties – a male customer and a female TTC employee – were involved in a verbal altercation near the fare wickets when they assaulted each other.

They say the employee then stabbed the customer with a knife before they were separated, but the customer then returned and stabbed the employee with a knife.

Both parties were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the parties were not known to each other.

Police say both individuals — a 42-year-old man and 40-year-old woman — are charged with several assault charges.

When asked whether the employee was still employed by the TTC, a TTC spokesperson declined to answer, saying it would be inappropriate to comment on a matter before the courts.
