East Hamilton house explosion now considered suspicious

Police say a house explosion in east Hamilton on Sunday is now being treated as suspicious.
Firefighters say the explosion and subsequent fire occurred just before 5 a.m. at a home on 18 Tuxedo Ave. North, between Main Street East and Dunsmure Road.
First responders reported that the home had partially collapsed by the time they arrived.
Neighbours were safely evacuated while fire crews worked to put out the blaze.
Officers say the residents of the home were not home at the time and no one was injured.
Due to the structural damage of the home, an initial search of the home was not conducted.
The nature of the explosion prompted the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) to execute a search warrant at the property, and it is now being treated as suspicious.
According to a statement from the OFM, the cause and origin have not yet been identified.
