In 2012, B.C. teenager Amanda Todd took her own life at the age of 15 following a self-made video she published describing harassment and extortion that she was facing online.

The case grabbed international attention when it was made known that her harasser, Aydin Coban, aged 44 or 45, lived outside of the country.

Canadian and Dutch authorities extradited Coban from the Netherlands to Canada where he faced trial in connection to Todd’s death.
