Driver arrested after police chase on QEW

OPP closed part of the QEW Saturday morning after a police chase.

A female officer was taken to hospital and a suspect was taken to jail.

Police say the pursuit began in Burlington when they tried to pull over a car for a highway traffic act violation.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash that happened near Cawthra.

The male suspect drove away but ended up crashing further up the highway at Dixie Rd.

After the second crash at Dixie the male abandoned his vehicle and took off on foot.

The police canine unit was called in and tracked him to the Dixie Outlet Mall where he was arrested.
