Doug Ford selected as CHCH News top newsmaker for 2025

Premier Doug Ford says his government has made monumental progress this year, he singles out areas like transportation.

Ford made his remarks Monday at the end of a year when he played a key role in Ontario and Canadian politics and caught the attention of the public again and again, as well as people like Donald Trump.

In fact, Ford played such a prominent role in 2025 that CHCH decided to name him the “CHCH newsmaker of the year.”

Ford certainly stood out this year, even if some of the things he was saying weren’t exactly what you’d expect from an Ontario premier.

Whether you like his style or not, the premier and his party are way ahead in public support.

A recent poll shows Ford’s Tories with 51 per cent support, more than twice the Liberals and three times the NDP.
