‘Deeply disturbed’: Burlington mayor condemns locally-filmed antisemitic video shared by Kanye West

Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward has strongly condemned a ‘deeply disturbing’ video of a person performing a Nazi salute in the parking lot of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Burlington.
The video was reposted on X (formerly Twitter) by Ye (formerly Kanye West) last Wednesday, and had amassed over two million views before it was taken down.
In the video, a person wearing a full-face helmet can be seen riding a motorized scooter while Ye’s new song ‘Heil Hitler’ plays from a speaker. Eventually, they are seen performing a Nazi salute.
Halton police are reviewing the footage.
On Thursday, Marianne Meed Ward posted a statement saying “this act is hateful, offensive, and has no place in our city – or anywhere.”
“Burlington stands firmly against antisemitism in all its forms. Acts like these are not only hurtful to the Jewish community but are also an affront to the values of dignity, inclusion, and mutual respect that we hold dear.”
The mayor has also called on X – which is owned by Elon Musk – to strengthen its content moderation across the platform.
