Date set for inquest into death of man during Halton police shootout in 2018

A provincial coroner has set a date for an inquest into a man’s death after a shootout with Halton police almost six years ago.
Ahmadu Ahmed, 22, died at an Esso gas station near the intersection of Appleby Line and Harvester Road in Burlington on Sept. 22, 2018 after an exchange of gunshots.
Police were attempting to find a man who left the scene of a crash on the QEW and said Ahmed was hiding in the gas station’s washroom.
Shots were fired from both him and the police.
Ontario’s Office of the Chief Coroner announced a 17-day inquest beginning April 24 will examine the circumstances surrounding the death.
