Contractors evacuated after fire in new Hamilton townhouse complex

Contractors working at a new townhouse complex on Hamilton Mountain had to evacuate the area following a multiple-alarm fire Thursday morning.

The Hamilton Fire Department said crews arrived to smoke coming from two empty units at 555 Sanatorium Rd. shortly before 10 a.m.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.

Krista-Lee Ernst, media relations officer with Hamilton police, said firefighters were taking down walls to find the source of the fire.

Fire crews got the blaze under control nearly one hour after emergency crews were called.

The fire department told CHCH News shortly after 11:30 a.m. that the fire is now out.
