The Canadian Football League has announced new rules and field changes to its game to be phased into play by 2027.

There will be a 100-yard field and consistent 15-yard end zones and goalposts will be moved to the back of end zones.

Modifications will be made to the single-point rouge rule and the league will introduce an automatic 35-second play clock, and team benches will also be moved to opposite sidelines.

The changes were announced by commissioner Stewart Johnston during a conference held in Toronto.

Johnston says the adjustments are being implemented to encourage scoring and enhance the viewing experience.
