Canada Post and the union representing its workers have finalized a new contract after two years of negotiations.

The parties reached an agreement on principle in November, ending rotating strike action.

Since November, negotiations have surrounded the language that is used in the contract.

This follows two years of negotiations, with the union pursuing higher wages and the postal service proposing changes to services in order to improve its finances.

The parties have agreed to five year agreements that will end at the end of January 2029, higher wage increases, enhanced health benefits for employees, additional personal days, maintain a model which supports weekend delivery, make pay for employees hourly, among other changes.

The parties have agreed to not engage in any strike or lockout activity during the ratification process where union members vote on the finalized agreement.
