Update:  On Wednesday June 7 David Goyit was located and taken into custody by the Brantford Police Service without incident

Police are searching for a man who escaped the Brantford jail just after 9:30 am Monday morning.

33 year old David George Goyit of Brantford was being loaded into a custody transport vehicle, when an altercation between another inmate and Brantford police took place. Goyit escaped during that altercation.

Police have also released video. They say Goyit’s legs were shackled, but he still managed to get away on foot. He was last seen wearing a blue sweater with green on the inside of the hood, grey pants and dark shoes with white soles. He’s about 5’7″, 162 pounds, with a brown mohawk style haircut.

Police say Goyit was in custody for breach of conditions in connection with property related crimes, thefts and frauds. They also say while the original offences had no acts of violence, they still caution the public not to approach him and to call 9-1-1 immediately.
