Belated child abuse call in St. Catharines leads to arrest

A St. Catharines man was arrested Thursday after Niagara police responded to a belated child abuse call.

Investigators immediately contacted detectives with the Child Abuse Unit who found that a sexual assault took place.

Robert Caverley, 54, has been arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching with a person under 16, along with uttering threats.

Caverley was scheduled to attend a bail hearing in St. Catharines today.
