Battle of the robots at Humber College

Halton students were among others in the GTA taking part in a high school robotics competition at Humber College.
Dave Ellis, President of First Robotics Canada says, “this is the first robotics competition for kids that are 14 and up and they’re building robots that drive autonomously as well as are totally operated by the kids.”
Thirty schools are participating throughout the weekend and on Saturday, the students at M.M. Robinson high school in Burlington were the winners.
Because of COVID-19 shutdowns, all the students only had about six weeks to create their robot but it didn’t stop them.
The winners don’t just get medals and a trophy, it also opens the door to many post-secondary scholarship opportunities. The provincial championship will take place in Mississauga in April.
