Arrests made in Toronto pub shooting, tow-truck feud

Toronto police have arrested 10 people – one as young as 15-years-old – in connection with a string of violent incidents, including three suspects in the mass shooting at a Scarborough pub back in March that injured 12 people.
Officers said three masked men entered the pub and sprayed the place with bullets – video of that brazen act of violence was released Wednesday.
Shocking security camera footage captured the moment three masked men entered the Piper Arms pub in east Toronto on March 7.
Four people can be seen diving for cover as bullets fly past them. Then one of the gunmen can be seen opening fire on the patrons inside with an assault-style rifle.
“Nine people were shot, and other people were injured as a result. No one was killed, which is truly a miracle,” said Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw.
Authorities say some of the people who were shot at the pub have life-altering injuries.
This incident was just one of many in spring of this year.

Ten people have been arrested in connection with five separate shootings, one robbery, and a stolen vehicle investigation. Those allegedly responsible for the pub shooting are among the arrested.
Twenty-year-old Daykwon Joseph of Toronto is still being searched for.
The full list of those arrested and the charges laid against them can be found on the Toronto Police Service website.
“Investigators have laid 203 charges against the 11 people, including 24 counts of attempt murder,” said Demkiw.
Four guns have also been seized, and 10 search warrants were executed.
Police have also released video of some of the other shootings.
Officials say three suspects driving in a stolen vehicle had fired at a victim earlier in the night, then they drove to a nearby tow yard shown in the video where they opened fire on a second victim who sustained non-life threatening injuries.
It’s alleged the same suspects later drove to a gas station in the Lawrence Avenue East and Warden Avenue area where a victim was washing his vehicle. The suspects chased and opened fire at him. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers say all the incidents — except the pub shooting — are related to a tow-truck turf war.
“The shooting at the pub, at this time we haven’t linked it to any tow-truck violence at this point. So yeah, they are all tow truck related. It is a part of the tow-truck turf wars that were going on. And we’re hoping now that those we arrested will really make a difference in the number of shootings that we’re seeing,” said Toronto Police Superintendent Paul MacIntyre.
Authorities do say the suspects allegedly responsible for the pub shooting were also allegedly involved in the tow truck shootings.
Toronto police also say Brantford police and Halton police played a role in the investigation, along with other police services. However, it’s unclear what their involvement was.
