3 charged after Halton police seize loaded gun during traffic stop

Police have charged three people after seizing a loaded handgun during a traffic stop Wednesday in Halton Hills.

Officers pulled over a speeding vehicle around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Steeles Ave. and Hornby Rd. and were authorized to search it under the Cannabis Control Act.

Police found a .40 caliber handgun loaded with eight rounds of ammunition inside of a bag in the vehicle.

The three vehicle occupants were then arrested.

Justice Warner-Johnson, 26, of Pickering; Kye-Shawne Griffiths, 26, of Brampton; and Amy Lovsin, 26, of Toronto were each charged with seven offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless use of a firearm.

Griffiths was held in custody pending a bail hearing. Warner-Johnson and Lovsin were released.
